Biography Show/Hide DRT, is one of the premiere hard rock bands from the Philippines, and was formed back in the middle of 2003. DRT enjoys cult status as one of the most hard hitting and best live performing acts from the region. The band also enjoys Pinoy rock stature shared with good friends (Former members) and rock peers Razorback and Wolfgang. DRT released its self-titled album on May 21, 2006 - The album is still available in most record bars around the nation and has reached platinum status.The album featured 10 rockin’ tracks + 2 Live tracks for extra measure.DRT also recorded a song for a compilation album called "Hopia, Mani, Popcorn - Manila Sound". The album features the Sampaguita classic "Tao" as performed and arranged by DRT. The compilation album is currently enjoying Platinum Sales status as well.The band has had some personnel changes in the past. Former band members include Manuel Legarda of Wolfgang/Razorback, Brian Velasco of Razorback, Miguel Ortigas of Razorback/The Breed, and Paulo Pacia of Dogbone.The current lineup has proven to be the most inspired though, and is showcasing it over and over again during live performances, receiving praises from the rock community, fans and even former members. Jay Ortega has been rockin’ his socks off and belting high notes since the mid 90’s. A very accomplished vocalist, Jay has been nominated and has won music awards since the 90’s. He has performed and recorded with the best musicians the country has ever produced, and is sometimes called the “Filipino Chris Cornell” for his widely ranged vocals… Raspy, soothing, and packs a wallop. Daniel Crisologo is strongly considered to be one of the best guitarists in the country today. Ask David Aguirre of Razorback and he will attest to this. He is revered not just by fans, but by everyone and anyone who has any rock or guitar knowledge. He is the Filipino Joe Satriani, mixed in with a bit of Jimmy Page and Ritchie Kotzen. He designs his own guitars and is also an up and coming audio engineer. Daniel is a guitar virtuoso like no other. Derek Ileto has played for almost every popular band in the country and is the quintessential bassist. Highly educated in jazz, soul and rock riffs and techniques, Derek can funk up a groove like no other. He just may be the closest thing we have to a Flea or John Paul Jones. Walter De Vera is a very skilled and technical drummer, who pounds the skins like there was no tomorrow. Walter is very dynamic in his approach… hits the skins as hard as Bonham when need be, and can easily shift to a Percarro type groove in an instant. He flows with and fills arrangements like no other, and compliments songs the way it should be done. Walter = Dave Grohl DRT can easily be likened to guitar oriented heavy hitting bands like AcDc, Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, Audioslave, Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin splashed with a dash of soulfulness and melodic riffs heard from Steely Dan, and Lenny Kravitz + the simplicity and musical deftness of the Foo Fighters.DRT is a must see live rock act that won’t disappoint, and is highly regarded as one of the best rock bands the country has ever produced. By the way, DRT is the only band in the whole of Asia, and one of only two in the world that endorses the signature brand Oakley.
