The band Mojofly first came into the music scene in the year 1999. The band is the brainchild of Ricci Gurango, the band's bassist. When he left Hungry Young Poets, he became determined to form a band of his own -Mojofly was then born. It's composed of Lougee Basabas on vocals, Ricci Gurango on bass, Allan Elgar on guitar, and Ali Alejandro on drums.
Although it sounds as if Ricci made a good decision in leaving his previous band, the presence of Mojofly when it first started was never totally felt.
The band still had to undergo endeavors before it finally made a mark as one of the biggest rock bands in town. Add to that Kitchie Nadal's (Mojofly's former vocalist) decision to leave the band. But these hurdles didn't become such a big hindrance for the band to overcome.
Mojofly continued their music sojourn with a new vocalist, Lougee Basabas – a perfect manifestation of a real musician. She's not a novice or no namer in the music world because she has been singing even before she became a part of Mojofly. She was once a member of Ryan Cayabyab's pop-tuned group “Kaya.” The only difference now is, she's more into writing and singing music with alternative-rock taste rather than indulging in purely pop teen-sound.
According to some people, Lougee's arrival in the group is one among the hundred reasons of the band's massive success, and she has made it clear to everyone through their album “Mojofly Now”. Fellow music lovers, whether rock or mainstream aficionados, welcomed Mojofly's music with open arms and without any sign of skepticism. The band began to be appreciated even more when they released their smash hit singles that dominated the local charts like “Mata,” “Minamalas,” and “Sa Uulitin.” Definitely, the latter is what the band's devoted fans have been shouting all along.
