Kapatid Band is a Filipino band, considered as one of the country’s most dynamic groups. Its genre is a mix of Funk, Rock, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Reggae, Hardcore and Country. The band has its diverse considerations when it comes to influences. This includes all great musicians, artists, writers, performers and even family and friends helped a lot for the band’s success. Like Kapatid, members from different backgrounds united and bonded by the same passion that is to create music that is original and unique yet universal. Kapatid Band is presently composed of five undeniably-talented members. It was fronted by a legendary vocalist Karl Roy, formerly from Advent Call and P.O.T. He is a brother of Razorback’s member Kevin Roy. J-Hoon Balbuena (former of Kjwan) is the band’s drummer-vocalist. Jose Angelo “Anjones” Elemos is a multi-talented musician, playing the guitar, percussion and vocals. Christian Louie Talan dealt with the bass player. The last but not the least is the latest addition to the group, Philippine Arriola. Kapatid started way back 2000. Original members were some of the industry’s heavyweights namely Nathan Azarcon of Bamboo on bass, J-Hoon Balbuena on drums, Ira Cruz on rhythm guitars and Chico Molina on lead guitars. The band released its debut self-titled album on 2003. Spawning hit songs like Prayer, Pagbabalik Ng Kwago, Vision etc., the album received great acclamation from fans and music lovers. Through the years, Kapatid was able to maintain its forefront status though faced by seemingly never-ending strings of trials, not to forget to mention the line-up changes and the unexpected departure of late Chino Molina. But still, considerable amount of “diehard” fans are there supporting. Eventually, an experienced musician Karl Roy joined in with the award-winning bassist and producer, Louie Talan. These two veterans and two newcomers Anjones Elemos on guitars and Paolo Rosal on drums made such good chemistry. Its stability enabled them to gather more fans, encompassing long-time music lovers and the youths. Its successful second album is good evidence, aiming to hit new heights. After years of trials, Kapatid was not discouraged to compose and continue make music. Dubbed as Luha, the second release contained band’s most intimate and personal experiences. Carrier songs include Doon, Psychic Love, Sunday Shining etc. the album was released on February of 2006 and distributed under Sony Records. Recently, Philippe Arriola from Weedd jumped in and is working on a new material that is soon to be released. As music evolves, the band also evolves. With their new material, solid line-up and a whole new attitude, Kapatid don’t want to be stagnant and changed its sounds for the better yet retained its good qualities. That’s what makes Kapatid’s own signature brand of music. A L B U M SAlbum1 : Kapatid
