Vin Dancel is the band’s founder, main songwriter and vocalist. His excellence in composing songs was exposed in his previous band, Twisted Halo. Kakoi Legaspi, the guitarist of the band is not a stranger in the music scene as he was seen playing with other bands like Rivermaya, Mr. Canyon and Barbie’s Cradle. Simon Tan played the bass duties and boasts a brimming resume of performances with more seasoned artists like Noel Cabangon, Lyn Sherman, Skarlet, Affinity etc. Abe Billano, the band’s drummer has recently played the homecoming of Dongabay.
After the break-up of Twisted Halo wherein Vin Dancel was a member, Vin has no plans to stop his music career and everything related to music like composing and recording and forming another band. He cannot just ignore his musicianship in him. So in no time, he went back to writing songs again. It took him two to three months before engaging in composition again because Twisted Halo’s shadow is still very vivid in his mind. He wanted a band and songs totally different from that of the former band, a band with a mission of just enjoying playing music.
With handful of songs stored in his pockets, Vin Dancel now needs a band. Upon the advice of Raimund Marasigan, he looked for music addicts to share the same devotion to music like him.
On the middle of 2007, Peryodiko was finally materialized with original recruited members: Dan Gil on keyboards, Dex Aguila on drums, Buddy Zabala on bass, Kakoi Legaspi on guitars and Vin Dancel on guitars and vocals. However, while the live recording took place, several talents backed him up like Simon Tan, Abe Billano, Inky de Dios and Niño Avenido. When the band had to decide for permanent line-up, Kakoi, Simon and Abe are the most available or if not, most dedicated.
After several gigging and recording, the band finally decided to release their self-titled debut album on 2009. Produced by Robin Rivera, the album was released independently and contained 11 OPM songs including Agawan Base as the carrier single.
With this awesome composing members and all new sound in music industry, Peryodiko is not far from being recognized as one of the mainstream artists and even bound for international respect. Either after watching them perform or listening to their album, no other words will ever be expressed but “love you!”.
