Formed in 1995 by two groups wanting to form a band, introduced by a common friend. One group was Erwin Matias, Paolo "Ocho" Toleran and John Villanueva. The other half was Mike Bewer, Aries Villariez and Jap Sanchez. They first tried playing some covers and made one original composition entitled " Mahiwagang Bangko" in a short period. They then tried recording their only original piece which eventually ended up at Greenhill Sounds Studios and was then discovered by the legendary Vehnee Saturno.
Piranha got signed the next day and were trained by playing in bars for a couple months while making more original tunes. As time progressed, they were introduced and signed by Viva Records under their Neo label. The Dawn frontman Jett pangan and Rommel Sanchez as producers. Piranha's self-titled album was released in 1996. The band has remained in their underground Pinoy Rock roots and the rest was history. A ton of line up changes took place in the succeeding years .
In 2010, the original members reunited on one of Ramon Zialcita's production shows and the rest is yet to unfold........Another BITE towards a new chapter is yet to thread on the waters of Pinoy Rock!!!
