Betrayed's initial incarnation was formed in Queens,New York by Eddie Siojo and his high school friends in 1980. The name was taken from the Stiff Little Fingers song "Rough Trade."
Betrayed was formed in 1983 by singer/bassist Eddie, guitarist Buddy Trinidad and drummer David Reyes when the three met in UP. The trio call themselves Jump Boys, then switch to Betrayed when Eddie suggests playing the latter's material. They become visible on the UP interschool concert circuit, including the Brave New World concert series organized by Chaos guitarist Tommy Tanchangco. The band also gain essential radio airplay on RJAM's Dante "Howlin' Dave" David's groundbreaking radio show Pinoy Rock N' Rhythm.
Aside from the band's long and colorful history, there have been numerous lineup changes, with members coming and going from time to time.

The band's most successful lineup circa 1985 consisted of Buddy Trinidad, singer Dominic Gamboa, guitarist Boyet Miguel and drummer Manny Pagsuyuin.
They released two albums, the seminal self-title debut on DMZ records (under the auspices of A2Z Records) then re-issued on TRC, and "Again" in 1996.
Just recently, Betrayed underwent yet another lineup change, with the departure of bassist Dennis Maniego. Citing tightening dayjob and band schedules (he is also the bassist for Throw, the Go-Signals, with brother Mel Maniego and stepson Spyke), he has now been replaced by (Putang Inas bassman) Peng.
