Biography

Wickermoss is a Filipino alternative/pop/rock band. Their diverse influences and distinct individual personalities brought unique approach to their music as they blended perfectly into a rhythm of their own. Though categorized as pop/rock, they can shift from one genre to another effortlessly.

Wickermoss is a band of four composed of Deo Advincula, Roger Alcantara, >B>Leo Barrite, and Reiman Gesmundo. Deo, a female vocalist from Cavite is a registered nurse but her intense love for music paved way for her to join bands and heard over radio and television. Roger from Manila, is the bassist of the band. Since his youth, he is already a familiar face in the band circuit but he is also pursuing his other passion: Photography. The band depends on Leo Barrite for their drums even though he started out as bass player. Now, he is a professional drummer. The last but not the least is one of the founders of the group. He played the guitars yet he is also the band’s chief songwriter.

The band started initially on 2002 by Reiman Gesmundo and Leo Barrite. While still playing with their respective bands, the two got the idea of joining forces and formed a female-fronted band, Deo as the female vocalist. Originally, the group was a quintet including Bone Pagligara on guitars and Roni Paguta on bass.

Tentatively, they named their group as “Wickermoss”, from Deo’s idea of combining “wicker” and “moss”, both are common plants found everywhere since Deo is particular in gardening and horticulture. But when the two is being combined, it represents a strong intertwine of different talents that entreats universal admiration. But after realizing its earthly vibes, they stick to that name “Wickermoss”.

From December 2003 to 2004, two of their songs were aired in the Blazin 105.9 and finally featured in NU 107’s In The Raw where their songs received a very good airplays and available for ringback tunes.

On 2004, Wickermoss became a foursome band after two of the members left and was replaced by Alex Bacunawa. After few gigs, Alex also had his resignation and left the country to perform abroad. He was then replaced by a former bandmate of Reiman, Roger Alcantara. Keetle Mata also jammed with the band due to conflicting schedules, he did not make it last. Roger eventually became one of the permanent figures of the band.

Every song they made contained the unique personalities of the members. A soaring vocals, splendid performances and good chemistry & charisma are some factors that have to be considered in a band. A real talent is what Wickermoss all about.

Signed under Alt-G Records/ GMA Records, Wickermoss is on its way to fame as they release their much-anticipated album aptly titled, Falling Leaves on 2005. The album is just like a trip to wonderland, the type of musical journey everyone has been looking for.

Though the album is breathtaking, what is more astounding is the band itself as they release their energy to the fullest, never letting anyone to think of regret in their exemplary performances.
