U-Turn is a Filipino band, known for its perfect vocal blend, special acoustic arrangements and excellent rapport. Their sound defines what the mixture of Pop, R&B, Alternative and Standards is. With various collections of songs, unique music and outstanding performances never failed to capture the audiences’ ears, indiscriminating the youth from that mature crowds.
U-Turn is composed of four musical personalities, blended perfectly to produce today’s fullest sounding pure acoustic set-ups. Members are Teri, Richard, Bam and James.
Teri Sambajon is the band’s lead female vocalist. She was recognized as one of the singers of Vanna Vanna and one of the few who can sing and rap excellently. Aside from the characters, she is also popular as “DJ Marty” of 99.5 RT.
Richard Poon is the band’s male lead vocalist and guitarist. He is known for his sweet, cool crooning style that surprises many ears. Prior to U-Turn, he was part of the bands Sunny Up and For The Road. With his admirable guitar skills and excellent compositions, he can be a recommended for a successful solo artist in no time.
Bam Santiago is introduced into the group as the second guitarist. Being a member of Seventh Soul, this guitar wizard has added rich texture of the band’s acoustic guitar sounds. He also does back-up vocals and lead vocals in some songs, displaying his serene style in singing.
The fourth but not the least is the newly hired James De La Paz, the percussionist and drummer of the band. His performance has broadened the horizon of U-Turn’s music.
Formed during the resurgence of acoustic music, theirs is not just your ordinary acoustic band. Since then, U-Turn’s sound has evolved into one of the fullest sounding pure acoustic music today.
With their musical styles combined with U-Turn’s signature arrangements, it never failed to put its listeners into a whole new emotional musical journey. As they managed to establish very loyal followers, all their performances and gigs are well-attended. And because of this, they are considered as one of the country’s most sought performers in the industry.
Presently, U-Turn had released two albums under Viva Records entitled U-Turn and By Request. Their single, Make It Real is now receiving decent airplays on radio stations nationwide. Its accompanying video is visible on MYX and MTV.
