Protein Shake is a Filipino rock band formed in 2005. It is the part of Soupstar Entertainment, Inc.Just when you fear that Protein Shake might be another Eheads wannabe, the band surprises us with their self-titled debut that, really, isn’t too bad. We were bracing for the usual pop-rock-alt fare but Protein Shake serves ’70s classic rock influenced music instead. The only gripe: It’s such a long record! After “Ganyan” and “Shake Yer Booty”—the record’s seeming climax—Protein Shake just seems to roll on and on. There is a reason “Ganyan” is the single being promoted—it is easily the catchiest, daling dalhin song on the record.
