It all started out during the high school days of Gary Ignacio and Dexter Facelo at St. James Academy in Malabon, Lead guitarist Dexter Facelo was playing for another band named “Ardourn Delirium”, an all-male band with a female vocalist named Myra Ruaro. On the other hand, Gary was a vocalist for a band named “Boy Next Door”, where all his band mates were females. An unfortunate incident happened to Gary’s band mates that’s why it was disbanded.
The name Alamid has built it’s reputation in the Philippine Music Industry through the years. With their very first hit-song “Your Love” that made the Filipinos fall in love over and over again, it was composed by the lead singer Gary Ignacio and lead guitarist Dexter Facelo, it was the song that brought the band to fame way back 1994 and still remains the favorite song of all time in radio, karaoke, and even used in Korean Novels. The song received numerous award and citations that gave a legendary mark to the Philippine Music Scene. Their other hit-songs were “Sama- Sama,” “China Eyes”, “ I Just Wasn’t Brave Enough”, the inspirational song “Hesus” and their adult version of “Batibot”. Aside from their original songs, Alamid is also doing cover tunes from the other artists both local and foreign that showcases their talent in their shows and gigs. The band has also captivated the hearts of foreign audiences as they went on worldwide trek touring Hong Kong, Japan, South Africa, Bahrain and other countries in the Middle-East where they became the crowd favorite from 2001 to 2007.
